About Value Investors Journal
Thank You for Checking Out My Site! Stop back frequently for new posts on value investing.
Investing is difficult, but not nearly as difficult as many believe. What we need is a thoughtful, disciplined approach and then the conviction to act on our analysis. That’s what I want to accomplish with Value Investors Journal.
Through this site I hope to provide readers with an objective, intellectual approach to investing. Investing is an activity full of pitfalls and the problem is only made worse by many investing professionals with a vested interest in making investing complex while promoting their own expertise.
My desire is for Value Investors Journal to provide moments of clarity in a subject filled with so much noise. If we focus on sound business analysis, durable competitive advantage, valuation, emotional discipline, and maintaining a long term perspective we will be able to outperform the market as well as most professionals.
About Dan Erdle
I am a graduate of Hamline University as well as the University of Minnesota Law School. I am currently an Attorney, but my real passion is for investment analysis and capital allocation. I studied business at Hamline and while at law school focused extensively on corporate law courses. I have also sat for all 3 exams as part of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. I was able to pass all 3 levels of the CFA exam on the first attempt.
Aside from formal curriculum, my real investment learning has come from intensive study of the greatest value investors of all time: Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Ben Graham, Howard Marks, Joel Greenblatt, Bill Ackman, Mohnish Pabrai, Don Yacktman, etc . Almost all of my thinking is a direct result of these great investors. My only hope is that through Value Investors Journal I can help synthesize their thinking or perhaps expand on it slightly.
I am currently searching for opportunities to expand my interest in investing to a full time basis. If you are currently in the investment business and have an interest in forming a new investment entity as business partners, or if your current organization is looking to implement a value strategy, please don’t hesitate to contact me at dan.erdle@valueinvestorsjournal.com.
If you are an investor, I cannot currently accept investor funds, but I hope to find a platform to begin investing from in the near future. If you have a passion for investing and would like to discuss investing further feel free to get a hold of me at dan.erdle@valueinvestorsjournal.com. We can also meet in person if you are in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. I cannot currently solicit client funds without a formal business entity, but I would enjoy meeting to establish relationships for the future.
